Business Blogging
By now it’s pretty common knowledge that businesses in every industry should include a blog as part of their overall digital marketing presence. But it can be tricky to get started and come up with new topics on a consistent basis. We’ve got a few quick ideas that any business can use to get the blog ball rolling!
1. Tell your story. This is an especially valuable idea for businesses that have recently launched their blogs. It’s a great way to illustrate who you are and what your company aims to do.
2. Get involved with your community. Being active in various community events (like local fundraisers) creates a win/win scenario for everybody involved – it’s a way for businesses to promote themselves while contributing to a worthwhile cause! A blog is the perfect stage to share that experience. Take pictures, describe the event and tell readers what compelled you to become involved with that particular event or organization.
3. Ask the readers! Here’s where your solution really shines. Since it’s fully integrated, SMBs can easily engage their audience using every digital channel. From e-newsletters to their Twitter and Facebook accounts, small businesses have a variety of platforms to reach their readers and ask which topics they’dlike to see on the blog. Who better to weigh in than the people you’re trying to connect with?
4. Give insider’s advice. Dedicate a blog post to sharing industry insider’s hints for your specific product or service. For instance, spas can offer a quick description for a five-minute facial. Or, as another example, wine shops could tell readers how to spot a great bottle under $15. With a little creativity, this tip works for any biz!
5. Get a guest or two. If you read a blog regularly, you’ve undoubtedly come across occasional updates written by guest bloggers. These posts can come from other industry professionals or even individuals within the company. The goal is simply to add a fresh voice and a new perspective!
Blogging is too important for businesses to ignore, no matter what a company’s size may be. Hopefully these suggestions can help break up any creative blocks you (or your prospective clients) may encounter. Just have fun with it and see where the conversations go!
